A safe alternative for cowmilk

Cow milk allergy and lactose intolerance

Around 2-3% of children under the age of six has a cow milk allergy. This means that the immune system reacts to the proteins in cow milk. Experts believe that it is the αs1-casein protein especially that causes the allergic reaction. Despite the relatively low amount of αs1-casein protein in goat milk, there is still a high risk of a reaction taking place. Lactose intolerance is a common digestive problem when the body is unable to digest lactose, a type of sugar that occurs naturally in animal milk types. This also applies to the lactose in mother's milk and goat milk. It is a rare condition and often passed on genetically. As a rule, children may not experience symptoms of lactose intolerance until a later age.

Believing that goat milk is the solution if your child has a medically confirmed cow milk allergy or lactose intolerance is a misconception. Always consult a doctor for confirmation of cow milk allergy or lactose intolerance.
